Hello! I listened to your tracks and read the description in the topic “Synthwave by TNT”, this track has a different sound quality, this quality better. I also have problems with volume and sound quality. How to solve this problem?

What you can hear in the thread “Synthwave by TNT” are YouTube videos that lack sound quality because they were made with an old and outdated Windows MovieMaker. Furthermore the first tracks shown in this thread are a couple of years old, and especially in the recent years I was continuously improving my sound quality. :slightly_smiling_face:

What I do in terms of mixing can be read here. You will have to use filters in every single track if you want your overall sound to be clean without mud, especially HP filters to cut the unnecessary low ends. If you want your sound to get louder without aliasing and clipping you need to use a maximizer, a clipper (100% soft clipping only!) or a limiter in your master track, but I would recommend a maximizer (the native Renoise one is quite good for that, you don’t need to spend money). So put a maximizer in you master track and then boost the volume. But if you do so, make sure that the sound remains clean without any distortions! Don’t push too much.

Thanks! Yeah, I just have realized that I’ve released Electro only in the past 14 months, maybe that had an influence on the composition. And that’s probably why the hihats are on “Electro volume level” and I didn’t realize it before uploading. I’ve got used to it. But when I first listened to the song on SC through laptop speakers, it was quite clear. I’ve reduced it afterwards, but on SC it is what it is now.

Thank you. I think the vocals are pretty clear, but could of course be better though. It’s not easy to make vocals fit perfectly in the mix, i’ve rerecorded many times already and i struggle with making it sit as i want. That said i think it’s one of my better attempts though…
I don’t have a professional recording studio and i have tried so many different things by now, so i’m not sure what i can do to improve it?
I think my main problem is that my voice just ain’t good enough, but some of the problem is that it feels so akward singing loudly by myself in my appartment, so it inhibits me a bit from reaching the potential. One day i will hopefully be able to soundproof and fix any bad resonance in the room, but untill then i’m a bit restricted by the limitations.

I think in this track you have too many effects on the vocal or maybe you dialed in too much of one of the effects.Delay and reverb can make a vocal very muddy so use them only in send tracks and not too much of them. When the vocals come in you must get rid of some other element or if you cant because the other elements play a major role in the track side -chain the vocals to make room for them.I agree for the room treatment , most of us face the same problem when recording voice or any other real instrument but you can always use software to clean the vocals or use an online service like adobe podcast Enhance Speech from Adobe | Free AI filter for cleaning up spoken audio
