Ok thanks, that’s the second synth bass. So a little less mids in your opinion? I gotta say that I pushed the mids of the synth basses on purpose in this track.
Spitfire Audio, ok I’ll check. Looks like a VST that manages several Spifire Audio sample libraries. And there seem to be plenty of them.
Yes, unfortunately. But ok, let’s keep it simple then. That’s what I prefer either way.
Me too, The track above is my first finished one after 3 months. Once I even stopped for years. One can only create music if life allows it. But I’ve got a different approach, quite the contrary. Nowadays I only create what I like the most, and I prefer results over experimenting with sounds. Sure, learning never stops, but for me personally it has to be target-oriented (like how to handle a specific plugin). Usually I avoid to spend hours in experimenting with sounds. My goal is to transfer what’s in my mind as fast as possible into Renoise. And that’s the point where I start to lose time anyway by gathering the “right” instruments.
All 3 made entirely in Renoise, so excuse the messy files; sorting and patience are not my strong suits
& I hope disabling the thumbnails actually work in this reply, I don’t wanna flood the thread with 3 massive embeds
I couldn’t find that “bargain”, their website is a fucking mess. But I’ve found some samples like a choir or a violin that cost between 300 and 400 € each. It looks like Spitfire Audio is similar to Spectrasonics and they’re offering a lot of overpriced stuff. But there are also some affordable things and even some free stuff, and this free stuff is according to some reviews pretty good quality-wise. Anyway, I gotta check some videos about it that deliver the informations that their messy website doesn’t.
I just remembered that when I got the free version from them, I had to apply with an application for it. There was a 2-week waiting time till they approved it and I got a link where to download it. I don’t know if is this the case anymore nowadays.
But it’s quite damn good vst for free orchestral sounds.
I agree that AI generated stuff is not very interesting by itself, but i only use it to generate samples that i for the most have to manually edit before using it. I think a fair comparison would be to use premade samples or even presets in synths. The difference is that while premade/bought samples and good presets are already normalized, tuned, mixed and cut to ideal lenghts and so on, while AI generated ones aren’t really any of that, so in that regard it’s more like making samples from music or whatever and mangled to fit your project.
Imo the benefit by using AI generated samples is that you get just that, samples that are more or less unique, different from anything else. As a part of a creative process i think it is very useful and if i can make a sound by using AI that i wouldn’t be able to recreate by synthesis then i don’t see why i should not?
@Witcharrr I like the tension in Outline. It never really resolves, that’s sweet. I like that. Nova Afterglow feels a bit tame in comparison. And like the different voices/melody lines in the track are just doing their own things. Not necessarily playing together. Does work though! Nicely done.
@Cursed oooh, that switch around 1m20s or so, is lovely stuff. I do feel that the riff that follows and plays until around the 2minute mark overstays its welcome. But as always, your stuff is good!
@TheBellows that is a nice track. The bell-esque sound towards the end works well. Well done!
@KnownUn The groove is good! I like how restraint it is. But then after a minute it suddenly stops. No, comeback. I wasn’t done with that yet. And I don’t really feel a connection between the two or maybe three parts. That first minute of “dead man rolling”, though is splendid!
@Maskin That’s a bit too long and ambient, judging by the first 14 minutes, for me right now. But the sounds are lovely!
