Bit of techno/acid Made with Audacity. A bit toppy in the mix and goes on a bit (needs more ninja skill, or in fact any). Solid enough workout hopefully for what it is.
It was a long time ago I shared one of my works, but here’s my latest which is a pre-release. If you enjoy hearing old-school tracker elements in pop music, there’s a good chance this one’s for you!
A big part of the production was actually done in Renoise – drums, bass, and several synth lines. I won’t spoil all the surprises, though.
Feel free to follow me on SoundCloud – I’m always looking to connect with new music friends, and I’ll happily check out your tracks too.
The track is absolutely amazing !! I dont like the bassline i mean the sound of it,it kinda pops out here and there and feels annoying.
You got me there. At the first 25 seconds and so i thought this was an ambient track and then all hell broke loose! Nice one !!
Thank you – you might’ve just saved me from a catastrophe here!
You’re right, the bass does stick out a bit too much in some places.
This is exactly why pre-releasing is such a good idea.
If you don’t mind me asking – was it just the sound itself, or also the rhythm or pattern?
Edit: I just updated the song.
Indeed pretty flat mix without whoomp and bass, but nice vibe.
Are you gonna be the new @eretsua?
This is radio friendly music. Usually this is a bad thing imho, but your song is quite good. Is “Gracie” a real singer or AI? Good vibe, the mix just needs some adjustments imo. Soften the singing and increase loudness of the bass and it would feel much better. So this is a pre-release, which means you’re planning to release it officially trying to top the charts?
@Agentslimepunk
A warning for preventing losing your hearings (0:33) would be nice.
@DEVDESLPZ
“Minimal Techno Bass Bunny” is pretty nice from 1:07, great late 90s vibe. Head nod guaranteed. I just don’t like the intro, which is too long and doesn’t have any connection to the rest of the track.
Thank you so much for the feedback.
Long story short – Gracie is a real person, but I did use some AI tools in the process.
I’m just aiming to release the kind of music I genuinely want to make and share – like any artist would. And yeah, it’s already getting a fair bit of play after just one day.
Out of curiosity – have you always disliked radio-friendly music, or is it more about how it’s been sounding lately?
I’d honestly love to prove to the whole world that pop can still be exciting and meaningful – just like it once was.
Like this? (Just kidding… )
I started listening to Acid and stuff at 5-6 and I always preferred “underground music” over radio friendly music, but I could still listen to radio friendly music from stoneage to the early 1990s. I just dislike almost everything radio friendly that was released in the past 3 decades. But of course there are some rare gems.
Way better now that you updated it.Now i would made it less prominent and there is a liitle clicking sound playing along with the bass.Do you have an autofilter or something there because that is what annoys me the most.I mean i would prefer if the bass was clean you know no funny stuff but that is a matter of preference i guess
Haha, cool video! Looks like an advanced pitch correction tool to me. I guess that makes 99% of today’s pop music AI, then. Not to mention all the help we get from re-synthesis and other tricks.
But yeah – I actually enjoy letting people guess…
Is Gracie a real person? AI? Or maybe just a dream in between?
I agree, somewhere in the 90s stuff started to get downhill. I enjoy a lot of different genres though. Guess it was kind of a necessity with my background in audio engineering – you end up listening to everything, whether you like it or not.
Thank you!
There is a subtle effect layered on the bass – probably what you’re hearing. I wanted some movement in the mid/high range to make it feel more alive, but I totally get that some prefer a cleaner tone.
I might try a version with less of that just to compare – always interesting to hear what stands out to different ears. There’s still time for tweaks.
Not sure what you think about the actual pattern, but I did want the bass to stand out rhythmically and respond to the chord changes. Maybe it should be a bit wild and “funny” – just enough to make the song stand out.
The song already stands out because of the Great singer you have there.Typically when the song is built around vocals for me the arrangement should be simple,i dont think this song needs to have the bass so upfront and sometimes its better to just feel an element of a song rather than actually hear it.
I’ve updated the song again – in case you’re still interested:
The crossover point between the two layers of the bass is now around 250 Hz (instead of ~1000 Hz), which results in less clickiness and a smoother blend. I also added some mild distortion on the upper layer to make sure the bass cuts through on smaller speakers like phones.
I simplified the bass by removing all glide notes and those little ending phrases at the end of the pre-chorus sections. Instead of the bass filling those gaps, I now let the lead vocal stand out more – using a subtle delay echo to highlight the ending lines.
I kept the original rhythmic pattern, though – and now that the bass is more restrained, the groove feels tighter. The song even comes across a bit faster and more energetic with this cleaner setup.
The vocal naturally takes more focus now too, which I agree should be the main priority – but I still didn’t want to lose the tempo and groove completely.
I have a feeling you might still prefer an even cleaner bass – but at least it sounds a lot better to me now. So thank you once again for the inspiration!
unlisted track on my soundcloud; 1:38-long short tune written in MuseScore about eight years ago when I dabbled in sheet music for a short while.
Yes thats more like it !! Your technical ability and the talent you have in songwriting is remarkable, you are going places my friend !!! No more “complaints” from me i ve said enouph.
Awesome then, thank you!
Finally this is done and out:
Here my latest Song-Project, 80 % of the time spend to compose the Music in Renoise and 20 % to make the Video for YouTube with Filmora which is a new tool for me.
