Ah, Urlaub is exactly what I need right now, but unfortunately work is getting tougher and tougher (christmas business is slowly getting started), no time left. The mix is great, nothing to complain about. And the composition is great, too. Very well executed Retrowave!:+1:

But you have to tell me how you did that specific note sliding at 0:51, 0:54, 0:57 and so on. That’s exactly what’s missing in my VST world, I only can do this with samples via pattern effect commands, but I don’t use any samples except the drums. And portamento isn’t the right thing to get it into practice that way. How did you do it?

I’m sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine how you feel because since 30 years I don’t have any grandparents anymore, I even don’t have a father anymore. But keep your head up. When my father died years ago the best thing I could do is making music while being high. That helped for a while, but sooner or later I was mentally that empty that there wasn’t any creativity anymore for years, so I completely stopped making music - again! Don’t you make the same mistake, keep going on. It’s probably the best medicine.

The acid at 1:51 is exactly what this track needs. :slightly_smiling_face:
Cool track. In my opinion there are too many changes, too many sequences, but it’s good. The sequence at 5:31 with the noise is a mid 90s Techno reminder, you should do more of it, it’s cool. Auszeit, yeah, Urlaub and Auszeit, that’s what I really would appreciate.

My condolences. Losing loved ones is the suck. It is a wry thing to say, it only hurts because they meant something to you. That doesn’t make it any easier. But at least they were part of your life. Knowing that and celebrating that fact can help. It does for me anyway. Take good care of yourself and your loved ones in this difficult time.

You too and post more often

That’s my main problem when I start a project, then sometimes I’m in a frenzy and the tracks are usually longer than 10 minutes, with many it comes across as if it is a mix. Less is sometimes more. I also started making the mistake of starting a lot of tracks and not finishing what I usually avoided because when I am in the flow I finish the track except for cosmetic mistakes and mastering effects. If I stop halfway through the song and then want to finish the project for a few weeks, I often get stuck. And I also know days where I can’t create a pattern very well  like a writer who can’t manage a single sentence but 2 chapters the next day.

Thanks
For me now has priority what happend in my Country and around the World. Its getting worse and worser, which cost me a lot of energy.

And I can’t look the other way because some things are developing just as they did in 1933 just under the guise of the pandemic.

That’s why I only voted once and only loved my parents when I was 18. But when I had to throw my ballot into the ballot box, everything was clear to me
The music is always a nice distraction where you have fun. I haven’t quite found my genre, but I think you don’t need it. Probably if you want to earn a living with it.

I came across a really interesting website by chance - I didn’t even know that there are so many styles of music.

A friend of mine really wants to do a retro Bladerunner soundtrack with me. Let’s see what happens with it …

This is an amazing track man and if you mix it properly it would be even better .When that big lead comes in things get a bit messy maybe remove a sound? or eq some lower frequencies. Absolute banger this is

Thanks, @stoiximan! Really appreciated. The currently published version is the one I released for Solskogen 2020, but I’m working on a new mix that will be released as a part of a remix kit for this tune (and more) in a few weeks. Hopefully stuff will be less muddy then.

You can download the XM files of folks like me, malmen, wiklund, radix (all swedish chiptuners) in milkytracker and have a look to see the usual elements and techniques. You can even load them in Renoise, but the playback won’t be very good.

With most pop music, it’s usually the same 7 scale notes in aeolian, ionian or mixolydian mode, with perhaps a few occasional borrowed chords or even a key modulation if you want to be fancy. In terms of the 80s ‘harmonic style’ (that I like and many pop chiptunes use), I’d say it leans more towards coloring with sus and/or slash chords. Then there is arrangement and song structure, which is a very big topic :stuck_out_tongue:
