Idea/Request: Option "Post-Fader-Summing" for send channels

Hi,

I lately thought about rendering a song into several channel files, how this process could be improved. If you use a send track as summing channel of dry signals, like I do for example for sidechain-gain-reductions or a simple reverb send, it would be quite useful to have each track still separately including the ducking effect or the reverb tail…

Currently you will get just the summed and processed signal of the send channel…

So what about an option for offline rendering ( or even for playback ) named like “Post-Fader-Summing”, so everything which goes into a send channel will be processed first in separately thru the send channel and afterwards summed together with other signals flowed thru the send channel?

There are maybe some effects like distortion that would sound different pre- and post-summing…

For rendering this would be quite useful, don’t you think?

For example on some song I use slightly ducking on almost every channel. I now could multiple duplicate the ducking gainer and put it on each track separately - but this would lead into a huge amount of signal followers, since if you use some meta mixer or so to duplicate the signal follower’s result, you will loose the automatic PDC that maybe is different on each single track.

What do you think about it? And what are your experiences with it?

EDIT: Ok for live, this would lead into multiple instances of the used plugins in the send channel… So forget about live, but for offline rendering, the engine could render track by track.
