Ideas for future versions

The ability to Mute/Solo tracks that have been minimised, especially on groups - some sort of tiny button

PLEASE GIVE US COLOURED FX in mix view!!! Need to make some things stand out, its all grey!!

Record in takes, so every time you complete one loop it makes a new instrument.

Different envelopes for fades in editor…so you click the fade in / out and a little menu with choice of envelope appears

Modulation over the waveform (has been mentioned before) Im sure its in the pipeline…would make mod timings easier

Sometimes it is difficult to know if an effect is bypassed on the automation window…how about it it is, it turns the track a different background colour?

-I sort of like the fact that the fades are non-precise. Obviously there are numerous reasons for precision.

-I do think the GUI could use some extra shading, color differentiation, etc with regard to the FX. The FX visually remind me of paragraphs of text on a page in a book.

-Some type of hybrid instrument macros/fx/mod/samples/phrase saving where a combination of the individually saveable parts can be combined or omitted as a grouping. But it is less than a total instrument preset.

  • A detachable phrase window that can be re-routed like a MIDI plugin. That way different length phrases can simultaneously be sent to different instruments(think yamaha groovebox) Maybe this works with loading redux and routing the MIDI. I haven’t really tried redux. If so, then ignore this…problem solved. Plus it gives devs some extra coin.

-Native MIDI FX and transformers

-MIDI routing to multiple destinations

-2 turtle doves

You mean fades in the instrument modulation? Yes, that’s definitely also something I wish for. Not even a choice of envelopes but a slider which describe the shape:

middle = linear, left = strong exponential, right = strong logarithmic. Then you can find the sweet spot as a combination of length and shape.

Of course, playing the waveform in different pitches would require this preview to update, as the overall time would change. And, once you start using effect commands the implementation would become even more complex. Not impossible, but complex…

the simple fader buttons in the sample editor…i keep having to do some really creative things to make them fade how i want!

Hmm yes i see now why that waveform stuff might be complicated

the simple fader buttons in the sample editor…

Ah, I see. I rarely edit the samples once they loaded into an instrument

  • My own pipedream is wavetable synthesis for the xrni

What renoise needs is a new GUI , I know it is already beautiful but there was no gui changes for a long time

It need to be more easy to work with and attract more people…

EDIT Nevermind don’t change the gui its fine

lol

Faster LFO rates and improved functionality all around

Interesting. What if it was just a (inventing terminology here)“Raw Peaks” display that was stored as a graphic asset and modified as pattern commands and pitch tweaks are entered into the pattern. I guess i’d envision some vector drawings of the peaks of the original soundfile that are attached to the Tracks like Metadata. Would also be a neat way of adding those wave overlays in the pattern editor.
