Made a few tests with Tracktion as a Master, Renoise as a Slave. So far it worked perfectly, perfect sync, it’s heaven !
However, when editing the song with Renoise, the GUI become very sluggish, because each time you move up/down, it takes a while before Tracktion gets repositioned on the right place, so even simple editing is very slow.
If it can’t be corrected, I guess an option “disable Rewire when editing” would be enough (if it can be done !)
Thanks,
Julien.
Ow sorry, just noticed it isn’t exclusive to Tracktion. And I also noticed that when Editing in Renoise was ON, the cursor was faster. Isn’t it possible to extend this behaviour also when “edit is off but song is not playing” ?
That would indeed be an option. Editing as ReWire slave when the Playback is stopped, would then always “detach” from the player, just like its done now when edit mode is enabled.
A bad sideeffect form this would be that automations no longer follow the cursor, but thats probably acceptable as ReWire slave?
For those who don’t understand what we are talking about:
Start any ReWire Master & Slave Renoise to it
Now, while playback is stopped, try navigating around in the pattern with the arrow keys with Pattern Follow ON
A) While Edit Mode is enabled
B) While Edit Mode is disabled
Yes, thats what I mean: We should always turn off patternfollow when not playing. This way we don’t rely on the master to change the playhead / currently edited pattern line for us - which might be slow.
