Installing Renoise (registered) On Mac Osx Leopard

so, i fooled around with the demo version of renoise and fell in love with it

ive been looking for an application like this since i switched to mac (about 2 weeks ago)

but i have a problem, i purchased a registered version, and it wont install… i have the demo version installed, but when i click the registered installer all that happens is my dock ‘bumps’ as if it were trying to launch something, but then closes it…

ive searched around, and havent been able to find an answer… any ideas?

if i understand this right, then: try uninstalling the demo version, as you’ll not be needing it anyway. (just an idea)

i tried that… and it didnt work.

From the renoise backstage area:
“To install the registered version of Renoise you will first need to install the demo of the version you want (e.g. Renoise 1.5 RC1). You can then upgrade the demo version to your own personalized full version, by using the installer of your choice here in the Renoise Backstage.”

Sorry that the explanation is insufficient to a new member. It’s a bit old explanation. Now you don’t need demo version.
Unfortunately, I’m not a mac user, so I can’t see what happened.
Please wait a little more until other members wake up.

maybe there’s a permissions issue.
i heard leopard has caused a few headaches

Make sure that you download the latest version: 1.9. Seems you have download a really old 1.5 release instead.

As mentioned before: You dont need the demo versions. Just extract the download archive and run the app thats inside.

There’s no installer for OSX. You can just download your registered version from backstage.renoise.com and drag it into the Applications folder. It will overwrite the old version there. Note that the registered version is called Renoise_reg, maybe you’re starting the wrong Renoise version?

ok, first of all, thank you for your help so far…

so, ive uninstalled the demo version, and attempted to run the registered version (as mentioned above, the os x version does not have an installer, i just dragged the app into the applications panel)

im thinking that this error might have to do with the demo not being completely uninstalled (remains of it conflicting with the new version, but im new to the mac world…

ok, so thanks again to everyone for trying to help me out, but i sent an email to tech support and it turns out it had to do with the program i was using to unzip the download file.

note to any new users of renoise on the mac: use the standard disk utility to unzip the package, not a 3rd party program (zipeg, etc.)
