For some reason , the combfilter in the instrument section does not work when the sample is a short implulse ( example 336 samples ) set to non looping , the combfilter is set to 100 feedback .
It seems that processing of the actual filter is dependent on sample size , thus only 336 samples long , hence why there is no steady tone
When using the combfilter as an effect it does work with short impulses
this does seem to be the case. Good find. I had noticed some odd behavior with it with short impulses as well. Appending sufficient silence to a short impulse sample does allow the mod section comb filter to ring out however.
it seems that the feedback returns to zero when the sample terminates, or is only present for the length of the sample. perhaps filter processing is only applied for the length of any given sample and is then disabled. Doesn’t seem to be an issue for the highly resonant filters (ie Moog filters) though. odd.
I noticed this issue as well. My workaround was to enable looping and place the start and end loop points at the very end, creating a 0-length, silent loop. The filter should then act as if the sample is infinitely long.
It also happens with the filters
Just draw a 1000 samples long sample ,with a decaying curve at the beginning
Set moog resonance to full , it will not ring indef , just like the comb it’s equal to the sample length
Taktik , any word on this ?
The beauty of the comb is to play it like a tunable delay line without hearing the actual impulse pitch( thus no looping ) , this is not possible with the instrument’s comb
