I am not sure if creationism is taught in the public schools outside of the United States.
My guess is it’s not seeing how everything idiotic seems to stem from the U.S.
Before I am flamed, please keep in mind that I live in the United States.
I just recognize that our majority, to my dismay, consists of indivduals who are void of the intelligence necessary to recognize that “Intelligent Design” is anything but intelligent.
What is intelligent about teaching our youth a concept that has absolutely no basis on actual fact?
Here is a definition for those of you who live outside of the US and are no subjected to such an idiotic concept -
Intelligent Design (ID) is the controversial assertion that certain features of the universe and of living things exhibit the characteristics of a product resulting from “an intelligent cause or agent, as opposed to an unguided process such as natural selection.”[1] Proponents claim that Intelligent Design stands on equal footing with, or is superior to, current scientific theories regarding the origin of life.[2]
The scientific community largely views Intelligent Design not as valid scientific theory but as neocreationist pseudoscience or junk science.[3] The U.S. National Academy of Sciences has stated that Intelligent Design “and other claims of supernatural intervention in the origin of life” are not science because their claims cannot be tested by experiment and propose no new hypotheses of their own.
My question remainds - What is intelligent about intelligent design?
Anyone here from the flat earth society willing to prove to me why this should be taught in America’s public school system?
Lets have a class on UFOs and Area 51! Tons of people have claimed to have seen aliens. Some even claim to have met with them on a regular basis and have spoken to them.
Why not then teach this as well? Hell, who cares that we can not prove anything and that these certain people always have some kind of excuse in terms of allowing others to meet these beings (manufactured by one’s mind - sic).
Absurd eh? Some people believe in all kinds of fairy tales. I don’t however believe we should expose our youths to them though.
Next thing you know the “chupacabra” will be recognized as a “REAL” animal! Better yet how about the abdominal snowman!!! (shudder)
Where do we draw the line?
It’s a shame. When billions of people believe something that has NO basis in fact we think it’s acceptable. When numbers are not as strong on another topic, those people are “crazy”.
Enough of my rant.
