i’m wondering if rewire is completely dead in every incarnation of renoise v3.4.x?
i mean i could remove it from my tool, Paketti, if there’s no use for it anymore.
Most developers removed Rewire in their DAWs since Reason Studios removed it. Because they just implemented it because of Reason in its non VST times to connect both together.
Did you even know that it only was invented to connect their first software creation Rebirth to Reason?
Other developers then saw this and were impressed. So all came together and most DAWs became this support to connect them to Reason. This made it possible to use all the devices of Reason also with other DAWs and do the mixing in the connected DAW. Since Reason became a VST version, Reason Studios removed Rewire because it was not needed anymore. And most DAW developers also removed it in their latest updates because it wasn’t necessary anymore. Nowadays there’re just a few DAWs that still support it.
But as a Reason User from the first hour on when the first version was released i find it’s not so great that R. Studios removed it because there’re still a lot of standalone softwares (also Renoise, and even some VSTs) out there that still support Rewire.
yeah, i remember rewire being pretty amazing and loving it with renoise+logic+ableton live. i’m just thinking maybe if there’s no rewire out there anymore, and o1 seems to think renoise removed rewire support altogether (and hid the #rewire-input device from the track dsp chain device load selector), then maybe the custom shortcuts i wrote should be removed too.
