John Frusciante gives free Renoise album.

Yeah, John Frusciante, who happens to be one of my all time favourite musicians not only uses renoise (old news) but days ago he gave a present, 3 collections of songs, in soundcloud and bandcamp, one is “Renoise Tracks 2009-2011”.
He; Aphex and Autechre talking about renoise, its a detail, but crazy that my favourite artist use a obscure tool that I starting using because it worked on linux! haha (now im on windows, more vsts…)

I’m surprised there hasn’t been an interview set up with him and someone from the renoise team (unless I just missed it), he seems to be quite willing to promote it.

As far as it’s possible to tell from what they let on, their own ‘special software’ is something cobbled together in MaxMSP.

Ditto - yeah, totally fascinating. Veering Off Topic here but I do remember seeing a screenshot of one of their songs and they were using Digital Perfomer. It was interesting b/c it looking like it was mostly audio (i.e., not VST’s) that were heavily, heavily sliced with a ton of dif envelopes being tweaked.

Back On Topic - some of this stuff is just GREAT. . . weird to think that the RHCP spawed such interesting electronic artists. . . (cliff martinez for ex).
