Keyboard layout (white keys style)

Renoise is beautiful software!

It would be good,

keyboard layout for white keys, but 4 octaves.

qwertyuiop - C5 D5 E5 F5 G5 A5 B5 C6 D6 E6

asdfghjkl; - C4 D4 E4 F4 G4 A4 B4 C5 D5 E5

I dream about it.

Thanks!

What do you want that distribution for? Is it to play percussion?

I hate to say this, but it is possible to create it with an LUA tool, but I would need to use OSC, and the keys would work as a toggle (would need to press each key twice to press and release the note, it’s a damn limitation of the API).

So, if it’s just for percussion, it could be done with a tool, since you do not need to release the note, only press. The octave change could be commanded from “Oct” valuebox.

Nope… This can’t be scripted. What notes correspond to what keyboard keys is hard coded into Renoise.

(If you mean temporarily having focus on another window catching/forwarding data, that’s such a bad idea with crappy implications that it’s not even worth suggesting)

Over and out.

If Taktik wanted, this could add it as one more option. Another thing is that it is useful.

Obviously I mean this.It is not nonsense, it depends on what you use it for. In fact, I already have a tool with this approach (with another order). To shoot notes is perfectly feasible. Another thing is that you do not like having to focus the tool to shoot. As I pointed out before, the only limitation here (aside from selecting the tool), is that there is no “the release note” for the alphanumeric keyboard keys and that is a limitation of the API that can be solved in the future.

A practical example is a tool with that distribution, but that only triggers the notes, through OSC, and a slider to control the speed with the mouse. In particular cases they could work.

Anyway, it is better to use a MIDI device for these things, and forget about so many complications.

I assumed this whole time that the piano/keyboard mappings were configurable. Too bad, seems like a no-brainer.

I’m working on something that allows you to do that and a few more tricks

In a future update, would really like to see the ability to remap core keyboard input keys.

Hello my name is Fosterr Gump. This is a very good idea I can only play with the white keys. I do also like the video sp.
