Keyboard shortcuts on MacBook Air M2 French keyboard

Hello

I’ve just switched from a desktop PC to a Macbook Air M2 with a French AZERTY keyboard and no external mouse and I’m a bit lost with the keyboard shortcuts
I run Renoise and MacOS latest versions.
First, if I go to help menu / list keyboard shortcuts, Safari opens a local file (file:///Users/geoffroy/Library/Preferences/Renoise/V3.4.4/KeyBindings.xml) but the file is blank ? If I open this file on Firefox it’s a long list not formatted and unreadable.
Could someone help me with the basic shortcuts ?

  • go to top / 1/4 / 1/2 / 3/4 / end of a pattern
  • go to pattern editor
  • go to sequence editor
  • play this pattern
  • play the song from the start
  • change octave

Thanks !

Geoffroy

Unfortunately that help feature seems broken with modern browsers.

Btw, the Keys section in Settings has a nice search feature for shortcuts, though it’s sometimes hard to guess the right name. I’ll provide the names in case you need to rebind them:

  • Jump to Row 0/16/32/48: F9/F10/F11/F12. Disregard the name, they work with different pattern sizes. Since macOS binds F11 by default you might have to edit your macOS or Renoise shortcuts.
  • Focus/Show Pattern Editor is unbound by default, but F1 (Recall View Preset 1) will do this with the default preset.
  • Focus/Show Pattern Sequencer is unbound by default. An alternative is Show/Hide Pattern Matrix (Opt-M) plus Focus Next/Previous View (Opt-Tab / Shift-Opt-Tab)
  • Play Pattern: RAlt (i.e. Right ⌘). Personally I find it easier just to use Space (Play/Stop/Edit).
  • I’m not aware of a shortcut to play a song from the start. You can use Go to Sequence Start (⌘-Home) then Play Pattern.
  • Decrease/Increase Octave: ⌘-[ and ⌘-]

Some other important shortcuts are listed here:

Hey ! thanks a lot, that’s very helpful.
For those who find this thread, you must press the fn :globe_with_meridians: key together with the function F1…F12 key to bypass the system shortcuts. And you have to disable Mission Control shortcuts in System Preferences.
Good evening !
