apparently it is not obligatory to use the acid software, according to the fine print:

Use any software (you can download a free copy of ACID XPress software at the Website) to create a remix of the Master (the “Contest Submission”). You may create your Contest Submission either solely from the Contest Materials or from your own original audio elements either composed and recorded by you, or for which you have acquired all of the applicable rights(“Additional Elements”), or any combination thereof. Please note that - by entering the Contest, you represent and warrant that your Contest Submission does not contain any elements that infringe upon the rights of any third party and that your Contest Submission is an original work created and produced solely by you. Enter as many Contest Submissions as you want. All Contest Submissions shall become the property of Owner and will not be returned. Sponsors are not responsible for any Contest Submissions that are lost, intercepted, or not received by Sponsors for any reason whatsoever.
