Klystrack

I was mainly interested in the source of it (since I’ve never done more with sound and SDL than straight playing samples), but hey, this is kinda neat! :)

It also loads protracker modules… without tweaking most sound kinda bad of course (especially since all instruments get their “drum” checkbox set by default), but it’s kinda amazing how much is still recognizable ^_^

Sounds as brutal as 8-bit can get, moshpit! :D

I’ve been playing with the program and I must say I like it alot. I always wanted to try out Hively Tracker and this seems to be the closest thing I’ll ever get to using it.

Are there any official documentations for the program, especially keyboard shortcuts and commands? I know there’s in-program help with commands and I could probably just type up my own index, but shortcuts aren’t so easy to find. As well, some of the macro commands are quite clear to me such as loop start and end and such…it seems almost like you can have multiple parts of the macro running at once by using it, but I can’t really tell just yet if that’s right…

At any rate, I noticed you’re looking for ‘cool example tunes’, so hopefully I can supply when I get time. Although I like 4 channel music, I’m really interested in seeing how far I can push this program with the extra channels and effects built into it.

Also, I have a question…why can’t the volume envelope cover the ‘buzz’ audio? I really like the sounds that come from the buzz option, but really hate that it’s pretty much uncontrollable beyond ON and OFF. It also makes Klystrack kind of unstable at times if you’re keyjazzing as well. You have to keep killing all audio else you’ll be stuck with a crap ton of notes.

Anyway, I look forward the continued production on this little program. It’s just what the doctor ordered and I look forward to pushing some evil sounds out of the little bugger. :)
