Kvr "One Vst Challenge" Winner

I went into my first KVR compo. Which entailed writing a sound using one VST. That VST was Basic64.

I won, yay.

COMPO SITE: http://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/kvr-osc—osc-17-basic-64

MP3: http://www.mickrippon.com/mp3/mickrippon_rainbowtrain.play

XRNS (only external requirement is basic64.vst): http://mickrippon.com/xrns/mickrippon_rainbowtrain.xrns

I avoided Renoise filters (which was painful). Tried to keep it as raw as possible. Anyway, enjoy.

That is bloody awesome!
The stereo spread in the middle is menacing.

Congrats!, some nice bits of variation in there.

Congrats! I’m in love with this kind of music, let’s hope it will have a renaissance :)

Did you forget to remove the loop on pattern 5?

Congrats! Well deserved win. This song is just brilliant.

As usual, a catchy melody

I love it, Mick. Always nice to hear a new tune from you. Looks like a fun compo too. I’ll have to check it out sometime.

Fucking love it

Thanks guys, really appreciate it.

Just for the record, I had a choice of a few prizes and I chose “Key Performer” - http://www.genuinesoundware.com/?a=showproduct&b=38

I wanted a nice piano, and I couldn’t find a free one that was any good!

Regards,
Mick :)

Wow! :walkman:

I’m surprised that you don’t win more competitions. ;) Your style is one of a kind!

I can consider Tascam GVI piano a pretty good free piece of sampler plugin, but a synth edition, i have no idea which one does a good job on this.
Even StringStudio, which is a payed app does not seem to do a pretty job on this on the higher or lower chord levels.
Accoustic and Electric guitar emulation is on the other hand top-notch though.

Thx for the tip… I also have tried to find a good piano-vst and been using Pianoteq for years now. So in your opinion, this is better?

fun tune! thanks for the xrns for it too! \ :D/

thanks for the tip! been looking for a free piano vst since my 4front truepianos demo time ran out.

here’s the link i found for the tascam http://www.gearwire.com/tascam-gvi-cvpiano.html if anyone else is interested.

This is really excellent! Epic!
