Linux: Issue with arrow keys changing selected sample in Renoise

Hello fellow trackers

I have a problem using the keyboard with Renoise. When I enter notes in a pattern, I first select a sample in the instrument box and then I activate the pattern by clicking on it. I can use the arrow keys to move the line in the pattern and then enter the note. However, I have encountered a problem that hasn’t happened before. As long as I press the arrow keys quickly, I can enter the desired sample, but if I hold down the arrow keys in the pattern, the selected sample in the instrument box also changes. This means that when I hold the up arrow key to move up in the pattern, the selector in the Instrument box also move up and another sample is selected. As I said, this happens when I hold down the arrow keys, not when I press them one by one. I’m not sure if my explanation made any sense.

Operating system is Fedora 40 with KDE Plasma (Linux) and the issue is present in both Renoise 3.4.3 and 3.4.4.

Any suggestions would be great!

Cheers

It does not appear to occur in my sway environment.
Is this a KDE specific problem?
Is it the same in GNOME, for example?

What happens if I quit Renoise, rename the following directory, and initialize the settings?

  • ~/.config/Renoise/V3.4.4

Starting Renoise with new config did not solve the issue, but upgrading KDE did. I’m a bit embarrassed for not checking upgrades before posting here, but it looks like KDE was the problem. The arrow keys work as normal now.

Thanks a lot for your input!
