Linux+JACK: renoise sometimes crashes when outputting MIDI to ardour+drumgizmo

Linux Mint 22.1 using JACK, renoise 3.4.4 crashed twice today while i was working on a hard rock/metal track with a simple synth (1 sample through a few effects) and a midi instrument sending midi to ardour with drumgizmo loaded. Also a bunch of other drum samples were loaded but not used. Just suddenly without reason, the audio becmoes a loud buzzing sound for a few seconds during which JACK registers hundreds of xruns, then renoise just segfaults and terminates. I can resume work by restarting renoise, the JACK session itself and other apps don’t seem affected.

Post log file section related to the crashes.

Will do once it happens again. Right now i’m not home, actually also i forgot to mention that it seems to only happen when my laptop is “docked” with charger and 2 screens (both 1920x1080) via an adapter on a type-c port, which also have the audio interface (m-audio fasttrack ultra) connected to it. I should test if i thappens with the fasttrack connected to a separate USB port.

Edit: just jammed around with the exact same setup for a couple of hours, not a single hiccup. (other than 1 xrun in carla/JACK) …i’ll keep you guys posted & attach renoise’s logs if this issue happens again.

Posting the old log may help too. You can also PM it to me if you don’t want to share it here.

Renoise just crashed again, here’s the Log.txt file from my ~/.renoise/V3.4.4

Log.txt (2.0 MB)

This maybe is related to the disconnection and re-connection of the Jack audio ports during the “Render Selection” in Renoise. It seems it crashed while reconnecting the Jack audio connections.

I tried replicating this here, but can’t. Can you make it crash by connecting Renoise to Ardour, then rendering selections in Renoise a few times? Or are MIDI connections necessary here too in order to make it crash?
