Linux, Latency, Jack And Renoise

I am using a Tascam us122 usb audio device with my Ubuntu 10.04 setup. Within Jack(qjackctl) I have hardware monitoring enabled and working well allowing me no perceived latency. Jack and Ardour work beautifully with this monitoring.

In Renoise however, hardware monitoring is not inherited from Jack. I am getting latency when I am running a live instrument through the Tascam. adjusting the compensation in Renoise does nothing. I realize I can attempt to adjust the “actual” latency of the usb device to a a lower buffer, but I should not have to if I have the monitoring working correctly. Besides if I go with a lower buffer I have all sorts of problems.

Any idea how I get Renoise to use the Hardware Monitoring setting from Jack?

Uncheck the speaker symbol in front of the recording meter. This enables/disables software monitoring during the recording session.

Whoa, I feel stupid. I guess I didn’t realize that was an icon I could click on. Thanks worked like a charm, problem solved!
