Linux yabridge: Korg Modwave VST GUI problem

HI all,

I have installed several VSTs on linux using yabridge and wine64 on my Ubuntu laptop. They all work well except the Korg Modwave VST (the only one that is important to me!!).

I can load the modwave VST using Renoise, and even play sounds. I can open the VST GUI from renoise, but the GUI does not work / respond to anything : if i click on a knob or whatever, nothing happens. So I cannot to anything with it.

Has anyone succeeded in using this VST on Linux ??? Or run into similar problems ??

Are the following okay?

First of all, yabridge requires a recent-ish version of Wine (Staging). Users of Debian, Ubuntu, Linux Mint and Pop!_OS should install Wine Staging from the WineHQ repositories as the Wine versions provided by those distro’s repositories may be too old to be used with yabridge.

Thank for your answer ! I have just uninstalled wine and re-installed the most recent version (staging 9.12). But unfortunately it did not change anything

Do you need any additional programs or things like iLok or dongles to make it work?
Also, will it work with other DAWs such as REAPER?

I have just trif in Reaper : I can load the modwave VST, but the UI does not work, just like when using renoise. it does not require a dongle to work.
i have seen on Reddit that someone has successfully used the Korg OPSIX Vst on Linux. So i will see if I can run this one on my laptop, to see if the problem comes from my setup, or if it specific to the modwave vst.

It could possible and very likely that the Wine prefix is missing some drivers and dependencies that make this plugin not work. It is common for Yabridge users to have different Wine prefixes to make certain plugins work, as one prefix may work well for some and not others. For example, I have a prefix that has default setting in winecfg that work best for my Klanghelm plugins, and another where I have some non-default combination of drivers in winecfg. I would suggest you read through the Yabridge documentation a bit more in depth along with other Google searches on how to use different prefixes.

Another possible solution is to use DXVK with your prefixes in combination with the suggestion above. A bit more complete suggestion would be to create a new Wine prefix, install this Korg plugin in that prefix, install the DXVK in that prefix as well, and while setting up DXVK in winecfg, try first that suggested config, and if that doesn’t work, do a combination until hopefully you get it to work.
