If I record a single voice using midi to a track that loops, and it reaches the already recorded notes (looping), and then delete the track with shift-f3, it may occur that the new start column is now column 2, although no more notes are in the track. Therefore I guess it would be right / an improvement, if on deletion of a track also a midi note-off is sent.
Steps to reproduce:
Open new project, lpb8 bpm 125, one pattern w/ 128, loop, record on, quantization to 1, polyphonic mode, any vsti synth
Record one full loop with 1/4th notes until it again reaches already recorded loops. stop midi key pressing but not playback
Now delete track with shift-f3 while the play position is between a note and the next note-off.
Now play keyboard again. The starting column is now column 2.
It won’t reuse that column when a note is already or still playing on it. So if you hit Shift F3 and keep one note open there, the next column is used to not interrupt that note. If you want the instrument to strictly play/record on one column only, you can use the “Mono” option of the instrument.
I’ve always thought an overdub/overwrite option next to the play/mute button on each track in the pattern editor would be excellent touch. The first note column would have 4 options dub/duball/write/writeall to be a sort of master option for all note columns on that track.
