Loading module hangs Renoise/crashes computer

Description:

Opening linked module liable to hitch on load or hang Renoise.
Opening linked module liable to cause computer to hard-crash (akin to power-cycle) after a delay.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Load module.
  2. If necessary, reload module.
  3. If necessary, force-terminate Renoise.
  4. Crashing of computer may be observed after a delay of a minute or more.

Expected results:

Renoise does not hitch or outright hang during module load. Computer does not crash.

Actual results:

Renoise hitches or outright hangs during module load. Computer crashes.

Additional information:

  • Windows 10 Home 64-bit, Renoise v3.3.2. AMD Ryzen 5 2600, 16GB RAM.
  • Module contains plugins Surge XT 1.0.1.60228e8 (64-bit) and sforzando v1.971 (64-bit).
  • Abnormal behaviour was first observed after attempting to duplicate a Surge XT instrument caused Renoise to hang. Module suspected to be corrupted thereafter.
