Looking for a good browser for macos

Completely off-topic, but you guys are tech nerds like me.

I am looking for a replacement browser for safari under macos, since Apple managed to make safari unusable (adblockers are not working anymore, addons are not allowed to manipulate the incoming html anymore, addons run as extra app and are limited, the addons offers are shady).

So far I tried:

  • Firefox - often pretty laggy when it comes to huge data, and the dev tools are limited, too
  • Chrome - only if you want to offer your full life data to Google, or your life is interlocked with Google services
  • Chromium - lacks of important video codecs
  • IE mac - is a joke and same story as Google, but with Microsoft
  • Opera - page buildup is fast, but videos do not seem to be gpu accelerated (uses opus codec, not h265)

So I guess that I am looking for a browser based on the recent Webkit engine, but not Apple and also having all codecs ready, and providing proper dev tools… Any good idea for me?

Vivaldi works pretty well. Highly customizable, supports chrome extensions, renders fast. Works for me.

Have you try Brave? https://brave.com/

+1 for Vivaldi. It’s like Chrome minus Google plus tons of smart customizations.
