In between 1-64 steps or what not I have a highlighted portion that wont stop looping when I press play. I do not want to play this section anymore. It is getting rather annoying…

Maybe you’ve accidentally turned on block looping. You can find the controls for this directly underneath the play/stop buttons.
try unchecking the checkbox on the left:
