Arghh man! I’m getting tired of problems with Waves plugins.
I just installed the brand new Waves Central installer and updated all my plugins through it, when doing this it will uninstall all old Waves plugins and reinstall them, that seemed to go fine, but now Renoise can’t find the AU plugins that is obviously a big problem as I can’t work on my older songs anymore.
I wrote to Waves support about this, they basically replied that Renoise is not officially supported but told me to try run a “Waves AU Registration Utility 9.6”, so I removed the Renoise cache plugin files, ran their AU registration file and opened Renoise 3 and the new beta, but they still don’t show up.
When Renoise is opened you can see it stops and parse the “Waveshell-VST”, shouldn’t it do the same for a “Waveshell-AU”?
Any tips?
On a side note, the VSTs now seems to work without all the GUI problems they had earlier, so going forward I will use their VST instead.
I wonder if there is a way to map AU in old XRNS files to their VST counterpart?
Maybe use one version before the great waves central? Would that hurt?
Try this:
Check au waves in logic or any other au supporting daw to ensure its really a renoise-waves prob
Check /library/audio/plug-ins/components if there is a waveshell.component. If not, copy it from /applications/waves/some-subdir
Always restart renoise before trying a plug in rescanning
Check file permissions for /applications/waves and waveshell.component. A “chmod -R 777 wavesdir / waveshell” could help
And last but not least: if somebody is selling a “audio unit compatible plug-in”, he has to support any standard audiounit host, imo. Renoise is almost the most compatible host. It’s the daw crashing much less than other daws while scanning plug-ins. Did waves explicitly tell you the daws supported only, when u bought their plug-ins?
They recently changed their plug-ins and their useless central. Now it seems to be broken. Tell them they have to fix it.
Renoise 3.1 b6 (64bit) and Waves gold bundle (64bit)
OS: El capitan
I just can see the waves plugins in vst format
EDIT: I installed the waves version 9.3 (instead of the latest 9.6) and then reinstalled Renoise 3.1 b6 and now I can see all the waves plugin in VST and AU format

I’m trying that now. I’ll edit this post with results.
EDIT: Ok, they work. Albeit only after uninstalling the newer versions, which was presumable I guess. I managed to get Renoise to recognize some AUs with both installed, but with only the 9.3 ones it worked perfectly.
