I want the filter type inside the modulation tab to be automatable with a macro!

It’s not the most elegant solution, but you can work around this by using multiple modulation sets and duplicate samples, then using stepper devices on the amplitude section of each modulation set to act as a switch between different modulation sets. If I have time I’ll work up a small example and post it here
In general, I imagine that changing filter types on the fly would induce some audio artifacts. But it would be nice to have that flexibility
Oh, I already know that workaround. Doesn’t work for me sadly though, since I need the 12 samples in my situation and Renoise has a limit of playing 12 samples at the same time.. thanks though

Oh hey, you know what you can do to work around this limitation? I totally forgot but I made a filter bank doofer for 3.5. You can automate the filter type there. Just put it wherever you want in your fx chain. instrument or mixer fx. Should do the trick. It even has additional controls for phase degree, dry wet balance, and makeup gain as well. all Macro-linkable
