Making the plugin selector window more functional

I would like to ask for a feature to make organizing plugins easier. Adding drag-and-drop functionality would be a game-changing improvement, and the ability to create and delete simple folders freely would be an excellent additional feature.

Edit: +import/export of the folder structure so we could keep it between system reinstallations

agreed and the reaper way is the best i’ve seen

Or if it’s too time-consuming, please do just this drag-and-drop. Organizing the plugins now is a NIGHTMARE…

i’d go a step further and ask for the hierarchies to be transparent… like if it’s internal /renoise, it’s a whole different thing….

i know there’s a tool for it but that’s not the point…i dont think it should be custom behavior to distinguish native vs non native

Just in case I will drop my observations/propositions for improving the plugin window:

  • functional drag and drop
  • marking items with SHIFT/CTRL for mass moving
  • creating/removing folders instead of groups. meaning allowing to create an empty folder and then moving things inside
  • when you click “more”, and then click somewhere else - the plugin window collapses back. it should be controlled explicitly by “more/less” button
  • it should remember folded/expanded folders. for example now if collapse everything and then search for some term, everything expands back
  • import/export of the folder structure and plugin placeholders inside them
  • possibility of using keyboard for marking, copy/paste etc
