Master Level Out

Oh yeah, this has been bugging me for a few years, how come the master output when rendering a song not to distort, is lower in renoise than when rendered from example cubase?

Is this a setting? Or does it take a different mind set? I just wish I wouldnt have to go through cubase every time i want to master it. Cheers! :)

Yeah it’s a bit confusing. I believe the master is -3db lower to prevent distortion, so I would think you can drag the master volume slider up max to get what you desire!?

Do people not have volume knobs anymore?

Honestly, I don’t know why the volume is lower.

To be honest, I never noticed.

I just export and normalized where appropriate?

But after reading another thread, it has come to my attention that this may be “destructive editing?” Technically, I can see how this is the case (I’m manipulating and changing the sample) but I don’t really see how it’s any different than sending it through my sound card, which then gets manipulated through a D.A.C. and I “destructively move the knob?” to a number that isn’t balanced?

Please school me.

Yeah that kind of bothers me too, because most of the time I prefer to have in my songs some clipping, but I have to readjust it afterwards.

not if you export to 32bit float WAV. In such case, normalizing will not be destructive
