Matrixizer (Kind Of)

I have a kind of idea of an effect that may be missing but may be useful :)

Maybe someone has an idea how to do this the other way so - do fill me in if you can.

The idea is to have a kind of matrix like effect. You would be able to edit a matrix like note pattern with “on”, “off” states and adjustable speed (1/1 speed which is exact speed of pattern speed), 2/1 speed (twice faster), 3/1, 4/1 etc… or 1/2,1/3,1/4 etc (slower). Then, the on/off states could be mapped to a specific device or pattern effect. The matrix would also have adjustable length - 1/1 pattern length, double pattern length, half pattern length etc.

If such matrix with on/off states would be mapped to volume of a track it would archive a “trancegate” effect. If it would be mapped to different effect the sound would be different.

For example the above could be made using pattern automation, but automation is limited to 1/1 mapping of pattern effect vs. pattern line. So perhaps this could be the same thing could be made by increasing the resolution of the pattern automation to include more than 1 change per pattern line.

I think similar thing exists in fruity loops but I haven’t been looking much more into it.

What do you think about this?

you’re asking for clips / sub-patterns basically, that have a higher resolution than the pattern you’re inputting them in, if so +1

basically yes, it could be a subpattern with higher resolution. it is kind of messy to double entire pattern just to alter one single track that needs more resolution.
