MIDI Inst Control modifications

I’m now pretty reluctant to build editors in Guru as they cant be automated. A great addition to the MIDI Inst would be to be able to set min / max for CCs. For example where waveforms have only 0-3 values, it makes automating this very difficult.

Would that be possible?

You can stick the MIDI Ctrl Device in a doofer, and in the doofer macros you can set min/max
(I’ve done this for all my midi gear, and very handy if you need to send NRPN messages to your gear too)

oh yeah? hmmm I think for some reason I ignored doofers when they were introduced, I could do with a tutorial on them…

NRPN yes! I hate to admit it but I am building editors in Max4Live now instead of guru…sad times :C

I had an experiment with doofers yesterday - but you can only assign 8 macros…? Each MIDI Inst Control has about 30+ assignments

I know… it sucks! Doofers should have infinite macros amount I think, so the user can decide what’s best.
What I do as a workaround is to have one doofer for everything regarding the filter, one for ADSR, one for pitch and modulation, and so on. So often it’s 4-5x doofers in my synth setups, each containing 8 macros

Hmm its such a workaround…shame cos it would be useful as Renoise is still my main daw.

Still, thanks for the info about NRPNs and Er1 suff…it’ll get the ball rolling a bit here

+1 for min/max and NRPN. Oh, and sysex, while we’re at it

I’ve also sort-of made an NRPN doofer, but I’m curious how you went about it? Mine feels like a cludge :smashed:

Hey Danoise, check the arpeggiator doofer i made here:http://forum.renoise.com/index.php/files/file/228-denimidi-korg-microkorg-xl/
Or the clap track in this XRNS template:http://forum.renoise.com/index.php/files/file/545-korg-er-1-nrpn-control-template/

Maybe same way you did it?

Hey, you reminded me why my attempts were so complicated. I tried (and failed) to send 14-bit messages…

But these doofers are so clean and simple  Excellent how it outputs the parameter number, first time a knob is changed.

This belong in tips and tricks, if you ask me!

Putting NRPNS in the MIDI Inst control would be good - or an advanced CC option where you can add NRPN data.

eg…
99 0
98 104
6 32

is that possible/probable?
