When you have set an midi output device > unplug it > try to select ‘no midi device’ in the instrument properties or ‘none’ in the instrument editor. It looks like the unplugged device is still selected.
apart from that: maybe also change ‘none’ into ‘no midi device’ just like in the instrument properties?
