Sometimes developers drop support for VST2 and continue to develop plugin as VST3 only. Sometimes even new version of VST2 plugin is released with different ID. Various things can change which doesn’t mean raw data is changed or incomatible. It would be nice if Renoise asks for missig plugins replacement when detects missing plugin. Of course it wouldn’t be 100% guarantee that it will work proper, but it’s always something.
I agree, I had this issue with plugins from wave.com . After updates to the newest version they disappeared from list in Renoise. I guess the plugins ID has changed. Solution was installed old version and stick with them.
yeah! ive thought the same before, +1 on this request
+1 I just made an account to ask about the same thing.
In addition to the VST2/3 issue, this also happened to me when u-he renamed Repro to Repro-1.
It’s possible to open the song.xml inside the Renoise file and try to adjust it manually, but I still wasn’t quite successful with this approach.
What? Renoise don’t query for missing plugs? Looks like VST3 screwing everything up you might wanna upgrade to Renoise 1.5… Sad thing is that the best has been discarded years ago, DX-DXi are far superior architecture to VST1-2-3 but you gotta know what you are doin’ to code DX-DXi, any bonehead can code a VST….
Of course most hosts don’t support DX-DXi anymore… Reaper still does you hafta enable it in preferences, also Making Waves which is still commercially available uses DX…
Things woulda been alot better if all VST1-2-3 were dropped & DX-DXi was the go-to…
