Missing warning for long sample recordings

Hi,

I just wanted to make a longer recording with the loopback function of my sound card (Focusrite 2i2 4th Gen).

grafik

After about 4 hours of recording without an error message, I stopped the recording (clicked on “Stop” and “Done”). The waveform that was subsequently displayed in the sample editor was only 46 minutes and 36 seconds long. The temporary file %LOCALAPPDATA%\Temp\Renoise-0-17240\Renoise_TmpPath-0-0\TempSampleRef1.wav was about 5 GB in size.

Maybe it has something to do with size limitations of WAV files, but it would be helpful if the maximum recording duration was displayed before recording or a warning message could be displayed as soon as the maximum is reached. Alternatively, perhaps the temporary WAV file could be distributed over several temporary files once the maximum size has been reached, so that longer recording times would be possible?

Best regards

Mrecorder has drag n’ drop…don’t know if it work in Renoise

nb : drag n’ drop work in renoise

i mean, i get it, suggesting a tool that doesn’t cause data loss is one way of looking at this.
the other is implementing a fix for a bug that causes data loss.
