Mutant Breaks #12 Voting thread

Sorry for my very late vote. Very hectic and busy week and I was relieved to see there was a deadline extension for voting. To be honest, I found it very hard to make a top 3 as I found so many submissions amazing. While listening to these I really felt like i was I barely scratching the surface of what is possible within renoise.

My top 3 are:

1) SimulatedZen - Relational Darwinian Mechanics:
Amazed at the complexity that went in to making this and am really in awe. Just looking at the xrns file makes me shudder. The sound of the tracking brings a total feeling of immersion and just flows so well. Interested in seeing how some of these sounds were created.

2) Charly Blackbone / Vivace / BotB - The Flame Of Thunder
Really loving the reese thundering throughout the track and just brings me back to my old school jungle days. Has definitely been added to my regular playlist.

3) Seal Meat - We Might Be Under The Effects Of Ionizing Radiation But Let’s Play Video Games
The combination of sounds here really did my head in but I was pleasantly surprised how well they worked together. Really digging this and will be checking to see if you more like this.

Special consideration for:
this beat - Somehow Someway:

Which I felt was perfectly made and was originally in my top 3.

I hope to post a more thorough review of all the tracks later on.

Also very glad that the deadline was extended…just didn’t find time before.
But now I found half an hour to listen on a crappy yet forgiving logitech 2.1 set. I found it a hard descision, also having so little time and having to skip through the tracks finding those that pleased me most. I was in a mellow mood, so I had chosen slow tracks and dreamy ones.

  1. Simulated Zen - Relational Darwinian Mechanics

Sounds might be simulated, but might actually trigger real samadhi. Glitchieness is telling interesting abstract stories, and the piano brings some distance and harmonic wideness into the game…

  1. Type A - Amigos Mutantes

very well production quality, I felt like this was like a tipper track. Interesting spaced out yet groovy and positive Feeling. Mutant communication seems to be glitchy in its nature, and the beat reinforces the energy involved, while the intensity is rising and falling like the tides on a beach…

  1. Frank S - Heavy Weight Sound (Mutant Breaks #12 Tasty Edit)

Also very good production. Very straight and energetic drum and bass tune.

I really wish I would have had more time, but now it is set and only minutes left, so off it goes…

Just a regular Korg MS-20 Mini, not sure if they have versions on them, thought that was just the original? The originals sound lovely too, just a bit bulky for me!

Oh I’m sorry, I meant the cyclone tt 303. They had two versions of that I think…

Not sure if this is the same break. The one I used was in the 200 Breakbeat instruments package that also was reposted some days ago.

It is the v2, are there many differences between them?
