Not sure we’re on track, not heard from my partner for a bit. Ive dropped him a message. If it comes to it I’ll submit the WIP I sent him.
Splendid! thanks for making the playlist HeartBeatHero.
@slujr @ishineee fantastic track! It has a lovely vibe. It has an electrical atmosphere. This could totally play on a nightclub on a futuristic space colony. It’s funny how I can hear xenobaba’s signature sounds over this but in a totally different context than it usually is. So very well done on that!! It’s definitely something new. I like it!
@H3ADL3SS @corb oh this is beautiful. That transition from the chiptune-ish synthwave to the violent percussion is just spot on. very cool! The part around the 4 minute mark sounds like the roaring of a massive crowd. Which is well deserved. Good stuff!
@supercomputer60s and I set out to make “horror techno” with a cool concept of a two-headed twin as suggested by supercomputer60s. I don’t think we totally got to the techno territories. Instead we ended up with a horror version of Tom Waits meeting black metal in a bed of lo-fi ambient field recordings to end with a hint of Blade Runner synth porn. Featuring us both on vocals.
My voice hurt for a couple of days after recording my vocal performances.
@Jek @Lneheb sweet track! I like the different combinations of flavors. The middle eastern rhythm & vibes are neat. I like how you two managed to forge this into a cohesive whole. With the fast breaky stuff making total sense in the context of the track. Well done!! I like the visualizer as well. Reminds me of the good ol’ days of Winamp.
Cool song but it’s +5dB louder on the left channel in the video!?
Oh hey, yeah, thanks; used some janky free video editor software (OpenShot) and it did that!
Just uploaded a fixed version, will edit the link above.
I thought it was some kind of weird albeit intentional stereo widening effect. But the wav & soundcloud links sound much more balanced.
We didn’t get across the line, it sounded like DSPasic had a lot going on and couldn’t participate.
Rather than BS and work on something solo, here’s the main WIP I sent to him to work on, with a simple maximiser on the master:
It’s rough, raw and basic in terms of arrangement. A sample from what I believe is a Macedonian folk flute-ist (is it a flute?) Aleksandar Jovevski, some more techy drums, big dirty bass - a switch up from halftime broken beat to 4 on the floor-ish music with some Flowdan samples. It is what it is at this point.
“Enjoy” lol.
I’m sorry to hear you didn’t quite make it. But what is there is glorious! It has a peculiar atmosphere. Not quite sad, not quite angry but there are hints of it in it. I can hear some spots where the arrangement could perhaps be improved indeed. But this is nothing to sneeze at the way it stands now. Definitely something to be proud of. I like it!
@corb and @alien7 MISTER GARBANZO and HeartBeatHero present Jungle Synthwave
WeTransfer - Send Large Files & Share Photos Online - Up to 2GB Free ← renoise file and mp3 available for a week from now.
All the submissions have been so good, do any of the teams intend to work together again at any point? Jungle Synthwave just edges out the rest for me as my personal favourite.
Thank you! I loved collabing with @corb and definatly hope to do another one next year. Hope he reads this.
I would definitely collab more with anyone really. I would just have to set aside some time to chat on Discord and on forums to actually make connections with people.
Really varied tracks from everyone, good job. Thanks to @eretsua for organizing this. It was great to work together with someone as an introduction, I will definitely join in the future if someone organizes more competitions.
