New Renoise Discussion Group

Yeah so I decided to set up a Yahoo GRoup for renoise because I like it so much. I realize these forums here are a great way to ask and answer questions about renoise because you can talk to the developers too…but I just figured if I start a renoise yahoo group, maybe I can point potential converts to renoise…anyway sign up @

The filesection is only 20MB large, so sharing rns projects doesn’t look like a success to me in advance.

One thing that Yahoogroups has in advantage is receiving and sending of email so users don’t need to log on to check the web.
But there are other mailinglists that spam less often or do not spam at all and work out just as good.

?.. Yahoo does not spam at all

Yahoo not, but if the list is open for subscription to anyone, yes, once in a while a spammer registers upon the list (actually takes the trouble of manually registering to the list) and sends out the spam.
I’ve had a few messages in other groups as well, but the moderator fortunately bans such accounts pretty quickly.
And it doesn’t happen too much either.
But it does.

Aha, of course. Thanks for the explanation. I’m only part of one public yahoo group, the Western Sahara group, and though I think it is pretty big it has never been spammed.

Those are good points. I’m sure if somebody spams the discussion list, they’ll be taken off.
I agree, 20 MBs is not a lot at all when you think about the long run. However, it still should hold plenty of “technique” example rns files, which is the real purpose of uploading them to this discussion group. Heck, the total size of the examples and demo songs in renoise1.5 is about 5 megs (9 rns files)…so if people use the upload folder to demonstrate how to use something in renoise, 20 mgs should hold a lot. When the folder fills up the user can delete the oldest file(s) in the folder. It’ll start a “newest to oldest” rotation after that.
