Any chance of PRS ever being compatible with the Phrase Editor? ![]()
I haven’t had time yet to check if API 6.2 already allows for compatibility. I think it does, but I’d have to look into it further.
This should work as an additional mode (note editor, song viewer, and also a phrase editor). It would simply analyze a track pattern of up to 12 note columns and up to 512 lines (the phrase). You change the phrase, and it updates. You edit something in the grid, and it would appear directly in the phrase editor and viceversa .
However, this requires quite a bit of work. I could add it to the roadmap, but I can’t guarantee it at the moment…
Honestly, I love the PRS. I use it a lot, and anything that helps expand its capabilities, as long as it makes sense, I’m happy to improve or add to. Things are coming…
Note: I’m finishing the new version of the MUC, and it’s taking more work than I thought to adapt and improve it. I’m obsessed with adapting “two master sliders” for two-handed control…
Hello ulneiz,
I’m also a new forum member and would like to purchase your PRS software.
All the best

Cómo siempre, tómase su tiempo. Que los trabajos que ha hecho son espectaculares. No me pudiera imaginar los difíciles para actualizar sus herramientas por el nuevo desarrollo de API jajaja
Piano Roll Studio Pro 1.0 has has just been announced!
Hello Renoisers, how are you? Piano Roll Studio has just made the leap to the Professional sphere, with the release of version Pro 1.0.
After nearly seven years of development and continuous updates, both public and in-house, this software has finally entered the professional-grade category. This means that all aspects of composition and editing are stable and efficient enough to work reliably in semi-professional or professional home studios. If you’re a serious composer using Renoise, you should definitely consider this extension. This leads to a new maintenance phase and even resetting the version number.
All new features are listed in the Update History (first comment on this thread).
This new version 1.0 of the PRS Pro inherits all the evolution of the veteran Piano Roll Studio 7. This was actually meant to happen a few months ago with the significant leap in Renoise’s API 6.2. However, some of the development couldn’t be completed then. Now it’s finally ready.
These kinds of important tools mark a milestone in the Renoise world. They not only demonstrate the strong programming capabilities with Lua + API, but also strengthen a whole community of users who need constant updates to feel engaged and up-to-date.
Therefore, development and maintenance will continue for PRS Pro v1.0, discontinuing support for PRS v7.0. Existing users can continue using PRS v7.0. Any user can obtain the new version of PRS Pro v1.0.
As always, there will still be a demo version and a full version, but with changes in the new licenses. The download link will be available soon.

Please seriously consider continuing to support the developer. Programmers must find a balance between time and effort to develop and maintain this kind of complex software. Let's keep the world of Renoise alive!

New Pattern Track Manager interface and more
A small preview of the new Pattern Track Manager.
I’ve wanted to improve this important part of Piano Roll Studio for a long time.
Previously, the Pat-Trk Manager was embedded in the top control bar. However, this always left the manager somewhat hidden and not as intuitive as I’d hoped.
Lately, I’ve been improving the Control Panel, adding more features, and I’ve taken advantage of this to add the Pat-Trk Manager to it. It’s still compact enough, but with a window large enough to navigate between folders and files, and to rename, add, delete, or save them. Now it’s fully integrated without any pop-up windows.
The advantage of this utility is the ability to load countless pattern-track on the fly using the mouse wheel. Furthermore, it can be used like a briefcase to store and transport all saved pattern-tracks to any song project, creating a complete and organized collection.
Possible roadmaps I have in mind:
- Add an integrated step sequencer.
- Add phrases editing to the notes editor (grid). This would only display an individual phrase, obviously. But it would allow editing from within the PRS.
The step sequencer is a side project. So it’s something that may or may not be integrated.
However, phrases weren’t previously supported because they couldn’t be edited via the API. But now it seems that everything is possible (we can navigate between phrases and edit them via the API). While this requires some experimentation, I’ve always believed that working with phrases is essential to fully complement Renoise.
At the same time, I’ve always wanted Renoise to have more defense in the use of phrases, considering this ability as something highly underestimated by many users, even something that goes largely unnoticed among new users, and I think it has to do with how the phrases could be displayed in the pattern editor, whether in full or at least their firing (and stopping) positions.
Interestingly, the PRS grid already has the ability to show by symbology whether any note block triggers a phrase.
