Osx Speech Recognition Works In Renoise.

it doesnt work or do all that much i guess without writing a bunch of script commands.
but it will move up an down pages and i imagine there is alot more it could do with the proper scripting. B)

makes me feel like im talking to a computer on star trek!

Does this stuff work by default?

It would be cool to set it up so you could do a live jam with Renoise, telling it commands while you play an instrument kind of like live Jazz.

you just go into systemprefs/speech an then turn it on, everything after that is pretty self explanitory. an man the quality is amazing, this area also lets you play with the voices. before i came upon this feature in osx i only knew how to manipulate the voices with supercollider3, the settings of course dont let you mess with them as extensively but its enough to do what you need.

to do what your speaking of is totally fathomable but would probably require quite abit of scripting, and definetly some help from the devs to get the command names, but im almost sure once we have the command names it could be done. the scripting for it seems self explanitory also they all look about the same when it comes to the structure of the script. in one of the prefs subpanels there is a link to the scripts directory, you can easily view them with text edit. i think maybe using the apple scripts editor might be easier tho, maybe more options? probably well i would hope it could show syntax in colors.

“Computer! set bpm 182!, set speed 1! set editstep 16 make pattern 256!”
“Computer! set pattern loop! input note C4 volume 70! move page down! input C3!”
“Computer! move to effect column! insert effect command zero nine one five!”

lets hope its a little easier then that :)

If different pitches of voice are recognised properly, you could hum away a tune and have Renoise track it for ya! :)

with the current state of realtime audio to midi conversion, i cant see why a driver wouldnt be being written right now as i type.

it does already work tho, there is an import midi function already in renoise.
an using one of the audio to midi convertors isnt all that hard.
thats old news anyway…
