Sorry guys same performance as previous betas .
Only the modulation envelope cpp burden is better
Main problem …pattern follow and pattern data = laggy updates , bad peformance
All these issues are of no importance when step recording , but some people play/record data live …
Before someone tells me to buy a new pc … I am running reaper with lots of audiotracks/automation lanes with antialiased graphics …zoomed in scrolling fast …cpu load …yes …performance …TOP NOTCH
Most important thing …I still can’t use renoise 3 for making music .serious !!!
The modulation envelope is better …and renoise performs better when NOT maximized and setting a higher horizontal spacing (less screen estate less gui data to process , other then that when maximized+pattern follow = same shit …as previous betas …
ISSUES
-A ridiculous example: an empty song , just showing masterscopes …No audio playing or any vst’s loaded …taskmanager 60´% just for ENABLING a fucking scope window ?? That is unacceptable
In renoise 2.8 …barely any cpu hit in taskmanger .
-Turning on pattern follow …on 40 % cpu load song …unable to record notes accurately (note delay on ), The screen update is horrible , skipping notes …it acts like is has a 99% cpu load .when it’s only 40´%…just when things get interesting …
-Renoise 2.8 50 cpu song , scopes enabled recording of 1/32 notes with and without note delay =PERFECT
Another Simple example , song 30´% moving a slider feels good and smmooth , moving it while pattern follow is on ,it feels laggy
I tried all possible limit frame rate settings ( 256 mb not shared graphics card here …more than enough )
-Showing scopes without pattern follow = smooth update of scopes .turning on pattern follow = laggy update of scopes
I am almost 100 % sure something has changed under the hood in how renoise handles graphic updates , pattern follow ??
Could one of the developers please tell me WHY or WHAT is causing this , I think I have the right to know .
It’s clear now that renoise behaves differently
Are there any processes running under the hood that are new to renoise 3.0 , some new memory allocation thing or graphics font rendering …?
Cpu performance in 3.0 is roughly the same .
One thing I do have to say is that performance is a little bit better when renoise is not maximized , but nowhere as good as the good old 2.8
I am getting really desperate and frustrated here …we’re at beta 6 and still no time for fun , getting paranoid too …thinking there’s a lot of lua code under the hood causing this …( hell I am not a coder …ZZZzzzz )
