I’m sure this answer is somewhere on the forum, I’m just not able to find it.
I’m trying to plug-in an ambient synth line in Renoise long attack/long release.
I seem to be having a problem getting the release down, it seems like NOTE OFF is completely cutting away the sound? Is this the case? If so, is there a way around this?

Maybe auto suspend is on for that plugin? Just go to the Plugin tab and click the ?
There you can activate/deactivate auto suspend for this plugin.

I just checked that. It wasn’t selected. I’ve tried it with it on and off, I’ve also tried to lower the attack and release down alternating between auto-suspend on/off and note on/off.
Keep in mind that even while Renoise allows you to use VST instruments in different tracks, make sure they are not playing at the same time or this behaviour will show up as well.
Thank you both for your useful advice! turns out it was just my ineptitude with FM8 that was the issue. Loaded up a new sound with a crazy long release tail and it worked on Note Off.
