@hseiken - Nice remix man, very cool lo-fi and the drop in to the good ish is sweet , def very evolving isnt it! Gunna have to check it out through my 2.1 system and get a better idea of your mix but from my listen now its sitting very nice
@organic io - I like your track in your post ( 1st page ) Sounds very well done for a 3hour tracking : midway through gets that real oldskool ‘tracker’ feel … some subtle dropouts could work wonders on building some suspence its a very mystical sounding tune. cool
Here’s a couple of pieces from a project I’ve been tampering with for a while. Still just learning the ropes, so any comments/tips/advice would be very gratefully received. Many thanks to everyone posting to this forum - I’ve found it very helpful for learning all kinds of things about Renoise and music-making in general.
Re: murden in the area riddim, I reckon you could try to play a bit with some compression on the drums as they feel a bit light at the moment. Also, perhaps some subbass beneath the bassline that you’ve got going. And maybe you might break things down a bit, chop up the rhythm a bit at some point. Just my tuppence!
Thanks for posting your tune! I think the amount of bass is fine and generally I like the feel of the tune. It reminds me a bit of 60s psychedelic garage at points.
The sparse drums are great, but I feel like they could come through the mix a lot more. You might try some light side-chain compression to let the drums cut through (particularly the kick and the snare). I also wonder if the hi-hat could be played double time at some point in the tune, or maybe a ride added in.
I really like the chewed up synth section that starts around 1:19.
Around 2:19 I got the feeling something strange had happened to the rhythm before the tune comes back to its initial tempo.
