I use renoise since a pretty long time (being myself an old tracker fan, I was really pleased to discover this great tracker !) and I’d like to share what I do with it… So here is my last tune !

ps: every song hosted on my soundcloud account are made exclusively with renoise and almost no vst (essentially some Calf mastering tools)

Just mention that actually the part I like is not 2:14 onwards but starting from around 1:56 (chromatic bass notes) to 2:14. That transition (from quite minor to major) is stark, but I think it works okay, and the following melodic phrase and change of bass line (between 2:01 to 2:14) is like a spot of fresh air. Pity there isn’t really any more of that melodic idea after 2:14 where it just tends to rely on that change of bass line.

To be fair, I project to make a weird french translation of the Galaxy 500 song of Reverend Horton Heat and sing it on this soundtrack. That explains why there are some quite too long repetitive and empty sequences, I hope that lyrics and vocal work will do the magic to keep that interesting…

Don’t worry, I don’t think anyone is happy with their own voice, certainly not when they start out recording it. It freaked me out for the longest time, but then I got used to it I guess. But other people don’t have that “sounding weird” problem with your voice to begin with, since they don’t know how your voice sounds to you from the inside of your skull ^^
Maybe make something for yourself to sing along to without any pressure? I tend to do that when I get frustrated with my recording attempts turning out badly, I just take the most passable one, fix the timing, and then put that in my mp3 player to let it soak in a little, so to speak. Dunno if that’s useful for you, but practice (and time passing between practice) helps, for sure.
