Question: Sample Editor Playback Line Fade, Trail Or Ghost Effect?

Is it possible with LUA or any other way to make the sample playback line in the sample editor hold and then fade at the exact point it stops playing?
Example usage would be working on long samples like breaks for finding the bpm, or tuning the sample to get it to match bpm with ultra fine precision.

set up a sustain marker and volume envelope?

I think he means the playback position line visually, not the sound fading.

Most useful thing for doing this I’ve found is setting a Ruler to Beats, then you can see precisely where you are in relation to current tempo and transpose/finetune adjustments.

You got it right, the visual playback line/indicator in the sample editor.

Though I might be missing something as I’m pretty sure that’s how I have it set currently.
It doesn’t seem to work very well with the framerate even at 100, it pretty much looks like it stops in many different places.
It’s always spot on for starts but loses some clarity at the ends of playback.
So much so it’s impossible for me to see where it’s ending to get a precise cut.

I’ll try to take a screen cap to explain what is happening. As the graphics card is decent enough and it does it on both nvidia and ATI cards.
