Quicktime Problem: Is Mp3 Sample Import Messed Up?

hi

i tried to load an mp3 as a sample into a tune (first time since i re-installed the system), it gave me an error message and said to download the quicktime from a link.

i went there, successfully installed it, rebooted… and it still requires me to download and install it.

i mean… what the f****?

thanks for the ideas in advance

What does the Renoise log file say about your Quicktime version? You’ll find the Log.txt file at
Windows XP: x:\Documents and Settings%username%\Application Data\Renoise%renoiseversion%
Windows Vista: x:\Users%username%\Application Data\Roaming\Renoise%renoiseversion%

Are you using WinVista or XP?
Do you have installed the official Quicktime packages or the Quicktime alternative thing? Have you installed itunes as well? Does this work then?

hi. thanks for the answer.

i use windows XP sp2 as i did before when it worked.

and i downloaded QT alternative, actually it was the only option that was offered while going to the link Renoise gave me.

it also installed iTunes but it messed everything up (even the winamp has crashed upon loading it) so i had to remove that.

may i try some classic version of QT?

thx

Could you post the very first line of the log file? There will be some logging about the quicktime version, if it was found and so on…

Removing Itunes might have messed up Quicktime. Simply deinstall Quicktime and Itunes or whatever is left, then install this thing:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ → (QuickTime 7.4.5 for Windows XP or Vista)

The Quicktime alternative is a non Apple version of Quicktime, but this one might cause even more troubles:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/quickt…alternative.htm

hi and thank you
got to install it soon

the log’s firest few lines are:

"

Version : Renoise V1.9.1 (Jan 29 2008)
Date : 2008-03-18
OS : WinXP Szervizcsomag 2

"

i bet this is not what you were asking for…

anyway, even when i had iTunes installed it was working bad too

UPDATE

i uninstalled every versions of quicktime, rebooted, installed the one you suggested (7.4.5.xx), rebooted, and it still does not work, renoise still asks for QT7 or higher!

unbelievable.

i uninstalled all apple shits previously…

No. Please send me your full Log.txt (taktik@renoise…), then we’ll hopefully see why this doesn’t work for you…

thanks, althought i thought it’s better to completely re-install windows, then i did so

i will put Renoise and QT up again and will keep you informed

thx

thanks dude, actually reinstalling my windows and re-downloading it without iTunes has helped… now i got a different problem

there is a VST plug-in which can not be loaded.
It is a previous version of BiFilter2 (freeware), the log says:

VstPlugs: Trying to instantiate C:\Program Files\vst\BiFilter [www.Tone2.com].dll
VstPlugs: Instantiate FAILED (failed to load the DLL)

i tried to rename the file, nothing. i played around its attributes, nothing.
any hint why the Very Same file has worked before and now it doesn’t?

other plug-ins could be loaded well.

may i include the file for you?

is there a missing .DLL file which is not displayed? (i had issues with some msvcr70.dll in one of the previous configurations)

am i asking too much?

Not if you already tried reinstalling the plugin ;)

yes, i did.

but it all is storno, it works now.
i re-installed everything (java environment, flash player, directx, updates, DLLs… i bet it was directx)

thx again, i hope i don’t have to come again regarding problems :)
