Sounds like we work in opposite ways! I almost never use 3rd party plugins

Nah, for me Renoise is just empty DAW I populate with external plugins. Never use samples and I don’t really like internal effects. 3rd party delays (for example) are BPM oriented, not Lines Per Beat. It’s more convenient when I change ZLxx in the middle of the song.

Sure. To each their own. But I’d still love to see someone implement automated knob/slider recording for native devices

I guess a more clear answer would have been that there isn’t any other way other than what is clearly stated in the manual. I see that I could’ve made that more clear for you.

I marked proper answer as a solution. I do not ask for quoting Renoise manual, especially when it’s not really related to my question. And since plugins extend Renoise functionality, and there is a extension that can do what I want, it’s not true that there “isn’t any other way”. Apparently is. Sorry, maybe next time yours answer will be a solution.
