A lot of questions from me now since i got my first external synth… This one is about latency when recording external synth with the renoise sampler. I’ve tried loads of setting but cant get it to sync 100%.
When i record without compensate for input and output latencies i get a short space in the start of the sample and it cuts before its fully finished. I sync start and stop with pattern. When i record with compensatefor input and output latencies the opposite happens, it records a bit into the pattern and a few milliseconds more when its finished.
I’ve got 2 pictures that shows what my problem is. I know its something to do with latency but i cant figure out what it is! If anyone have any ideas or someone using external gear with Renoise please let me know how you do it!
I cand of course make the pattern longer and then manually cut the sample in the start and it will be in sync but its a bit of a massive work when doing multiple takes…
When doing it with the render to sample function it works and is 100% in sync…
I do have the line in device set to midi in return as well…
Here you should find all infos how to get your external instruments perfectly in sync with Renoise.
Does this account for the recording though: MIDI out → External synth → Audio out → Sound card in → Sample Recorder (Renoise) ?
I’m getting the same result as above. I’d like to tune it at least so at least the the midi note and the first audio both hit at 0 (+/- a couple of ms for jitter allowance).
I can’t seem to understand the right mixture of settings to get this right. There is Track Delay in the mixer, Delay compensation in the Recorder, and Latency in the MIDI Output section. It’s not clear to me which is which…
