Do any of you also use VSL instruments with Vienna Ensemble? I get crackling noises when rendering with Renoise, although this doesn’t happen during normal playback even with many instruments at the same time. I therefore rule out a performance problem. Furthermore, I only render one track at a time. I have tried all buffer settings, including asio and direct sound, as well as different render speeds, but unfortunately without success.
Interestingly, these crackling noises only seem to occur when Renoise jumps to the next pattern and the sample is still playing. If I create an oversized pattern and play the same notes within it, everything is fine. Tempo changes via command also seem to cause the noise while the sample is playing.
What could be the reason for this and how can I fix it?
I have both installed on my studio machine. Never used Vienna in Renoise yet. Always did that in a linear DAW like Studio One. But I will try this to make sure if it’s replicatable. I let you know the outcome and hopefully any suggestion for a fix in a later message.
In case it interests anyone and helps: I have found that bypassing Vienna Ensemble, i.e. loading a single instance (Vienna Synchron Player) directly in Renoise does not seem to generate the problem. This means that I use Vienna Ensemble for composing at the moment, but load all instruments individually into Renoise for rendering later. This is a bit cumbersome and uses more memory resources, but unfortunately I haven’t found any other solution.
