Rendering Midi-instrument To Sample

this would be nice too.

You mean ‘external hardware instrument’? I don’t think any DAW can render the audio data though the MIDI cable. You simply have to record it just as if it was guitar or vocals…

However, if you meant ‘VST instruments’ (which after all are MIDI too) then it is of course possible and has been implemented long time ago.

True, you can’t render audio that is not present in a daw.
With external hardware you would have to connect the hardware synth to the audio in of renoise
And then it’s called recording and not rendering anymore.
But it would be nice if it could work like the rendering of a selection to sample.

k

Knowing the devs here, I’m pretty sure it already would do this if it was only possible.
But as I said, you can’t send audio data through MIDI cable :(

Would be lovely to have this.
What needs to be done is to have a setting for the render selection (an optional dialog box). There you could set the rendering to true realtime mode where it will also send midi out and include the line-in devices.
Of course this is very possible to do, and would be much more user-friendly then to do all this manually in the sample editor’s recording feature.

Regarding recording both at the same time:
The only way to somewhat achieve this is by using Reaper as a slave and record Renoise output and the output of the midi hardware both at the same time.

But once more:if your vst instrument and effect stuff consumes too high cpu to perform live rendering or mixing, it has no use to make your midi hardware perform activities along the other rendered contents as the other rendered contents are calculated and delayed when the clients (plugins) can’t handle all the data at once.

Your midi equipment has no possibility to pause the audio output for only a tiny moment while it is being recorded.
All delays will be added in the wave-file when recorded if Renoise should pause to give a plugin some brething space and you would never be able to time your recorded wave-file to your rendered Renoise file because it gets out of line somewhere.

So really forget that ability to render and record both at the same time, not possible to have this done flawlessly today or tomorrow. Name me one other host that supports this and then tell me how well that option actually works.

Seperate recording is the only way to go regarding heavy cpu consuming work.
Adding an option in the rendering box to record contents from the line would make things easier in that aspect that you can directly synchronise the wave in the pattern editor.

You can play a renoise song/track and record at the same time in Renoise with the sampler, even bpm synchronized, how much cooler do you want it?

spdk,

so my drums that i made with battery and my vst-synth-sequences are also rendered ??

(sorry for my bad english)

Yes. Everything except external hardware synths / effects is rendered.

…recorded of course not rendered.

Audio from VST plugins are rendered, from external MIDI devices you have to record this.
