Im sorry if i’m repeating from the last post, but I keep having more and more issues with rendering audio in 3.5.
Plug in grabber renders only one of the sample slots properly, the other notes only get a very short click followed by silence
Render sequence to audio also produces only a short click followed by audio
SFX and TFX button don’t bake effects to sample reliably - most of the time they work, but they usually apply different settings than the ones I have dialed in. For example I would have a synced delay (3 lines) and the TFX button renders with very short not synced delay. Filters usually get rendered with a different cutoff value Than the one I have dialed too. The stereo expander does not get rendered at all- - I keep getting mono sample after baking a stereo expander effect with wide settings.
Disclaimer: render to disk works perfectly fine. I also use 44100Hz in global settings and usually work with 24 bit audio if that makes a difference
No problems with such issues before 3.5
No problems here on Windows 11. All render ways work fine here.
Maybe you could check if “auto suspend” for the plugin is active? This also sometimes can cause such issues. Try to deactivate it.
And also, i made the experience, if you klick the stop button twice it will stop all audio immediately. Sometimes it can happen, if you clicked stop twice, and then after that, for example, rendering a selection to new sample can result in only a click.
In that case try to press start, then 1 times stop again. This should solve it.
Seems this is a bug.
First - thank you for replying and thanks for your continued work on this amazing tracker! New version is great!
Good news - after trying to figure out what’s wrong for a few hours I realized that most of these problems are due to my own incompetence rather than software bugs. So renoise is flawless again
So the problem with plug in rendering seemed to be that I had the octave icon activated, which only rendered the plug-in in the selected octave and produced short impulse for notes in other octaves. Octave toggle off and everything worked as normal.
About the TFX button with stereo expander It was also my mistake since I didn’t realize I need to convert the single to stereo myself, I thought the stereo expander would do that. But in any case that is also my mistake ( stupid I know)
In any case, thank you for your time and sorry for wasting people’s time here with my incompetence.
PS. I dont know what CPU performance updates you guys did with 3.5, but it’s being much more efficient on my Mac. I have some of my files running on half the CPU % compared to 3.4!!!
This sounds like a bug — it’s certainly not expected. The Octave settings should be ignored here.
However, I can’t replicate this issue. Does this always happen for you?
Unfortunately, this is a bit wonky. We send an all notes off command and reactivate plugins before rendering them, in the hope that all sounds within the plugins are getting cleared. With some plugins, this results in the first note being cut off. There is no standard VST/AU call to clear the plugins’ audio buffers, so this will always cause problems. But we could perhaps try running the plugins dry for a second after a panic to ensure that the next triggered notes are not affected.
Do you know of any plugins that always render incorrectly when using the ‘Render to instrument’ command or after a panic?
